Beauty is an elusive beast.
Creative direction, concept design and concept development.
The art of creating in itself is a magical, intangible act. But what happens when our starting point is not zero, but an already materialized element? The exercise of reinterpretation arises from des- (spanish prefix for un-). To uncontextualize, uncover, unidentify, unassemble piece by piece the elements that make up its existence, a kind of puzzle, with the difference that it’s not clear what the final result will be; never in an exercize of reinvention should one seek to rebuild something exactly as it is.
This is why des- is the embodiment of nonconformity, it denotes intention and multidimensionality.
Des- becomes a game, a dance with the juxtaposition of language and the universe as we believe we know it, because what we know exists from a common, comfortable, routinary place, having an apparently clear identity. Des- has a surreal tinge, decontextualizing is uncomfortable because it emphasizes that the objects were created for a particular use and when they are removed from there they force us to unrecognize them and they begin to “de-exist”. There is magic in de-existing.

El arte de crear en sí mismo es un acto mágico, intangible. Pero ¿qué pasa cuando nuestro punto de partida no es cero sino un elemento ya materializado? El ejercicio de la reinterpretación surge de des-.Descontextualizar, destapar, desidentificar, desarmar pieza por pieza los elementos que configuran su existencia, una especie de rompecabezas, con la diferencia de que no se tiene claro cual será el resultado final; nunca en un ejercicio de reinvención debe buscarse rearmar algo tal cual.
Es por esto que des- es la encarnación de la inconformidad, denota intención y multidimensionalidad.
Des- se convierte en un juego, en un baile con la yuxtaposición del lenguaje y el universo tal cual creemos que lo conocemos, porque lo que conocemos existe a partir del lugar común, cómodo, rutinario, una identidad aparentemente clara. Tiene un tinte surrealista, descontextualizar incomoda porque enfatiza que los objetos fueron creados para un uso particular y cuando se sacan de ahí nos obligan a desconocer y comienzan a desexistir. Hay magia en desexistir.
